What to check
- Nested or malformed Markdown may need manual cleanup.
- Removing list markers also removes numbering.
- This tool does not claim to hide AI authorship.
How this cleaner works
The cleaner removes common Markdown syntax for headings, emphasis, block quotes, fenced code, inline code, links, images, lists, horizontal rules, and simple tables. The words inside those structures remain. Link destinations are optional because some destinations matter and others only add clutter.
This is deterministic formatting cleanup. It does not paraphrase, humanize, disguise authorship, or send the text to an AI model. The exact diff shows the removed marks and any preserved text before you copy the result.
Useful for
- Text copied from ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, or another assistant
- Markdown pasted into email or a document
- Removing code fences while keeping their contents
Common questions
Does it rewrite AI text?
No. It removes formatting syntax and leaves the wording under your control.
Can it keep URLs?
Yes. Turn on Keep Markdown link URLs to retain each destination after its label.
Does it remove citations?
Citation cleanup is a separate option because brackets and author-year text can be meaningful.
